Notes From the Pantry

IFPN Teen Council

We are so excited to announce the launch of the Interfaith Food Pantry Network 2024 Summer Teen Council! This Summer, we will welcome two cohorts of 12 students each between the ages of 13-18 to participate in a four-week program focused on several major areas of the IFPN (Operations, Fundraising, Nutrition & Food Rescue, and Volunteers & Service). Students will tour the facility, get a first-hand look at our operation, speak with our leadership team during focused Q&A sessions, plan, facilitate and present results of their own fundraiser, food drive or other project and roll up their sleeves and complete on-site service work. Upon completion of the program, participants will be awarded a service certificate reflecting 12 hours of service.

Who can apply to participate in the program?

Morris County students between the ages of 13-18 are welcome to apply to take part in the IFPN Summer Council. We ask that former participants not apply to allow others the opportunity to participate.

How can those interested apply?

Please submit a short essay explaining why they feel that ending food insecurity is an important mission, along with their name, address, grade and school to KPowell@mcifp.org by June 11, 2024. While applicants may indicate a preferred cohort, spots are very limited and those selected to participate must be able to commit to all four full sessions of the program they are assigned to. Dates and times are listed below.

Where will the program sessions take place?

All sessions will take place at our main location at 2 Executive Drive in Morris Plains, NJ.

When will the two program cohorts be held?

Both the July and August cohorts will be held on Friday mornings. The first 3 sessions will be held from 10am to 12pm. The final session will be held from 9am to 12pm.

Dates are as follows:

Cohort 1: July 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th

Cohort 2: August 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd
