Our Timeline
1994
Founded by volunteers of four area houses of worship: Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel, Cedar Knolls, First Baptist Church of Morristown, Assumption Church, Morristown and St. Margaret’s Church, Morristown
1997
Rosemary Gilmartin, first Executive Director is hired
1998
IFP is incorporated as a 501(c)(3)
2000
IFP establishes Speedwell Avenue distribution site and warehousing at Hanover Ave.
2000
Takes over County of Morris food closet and establishes direct referrals from OTA
2001
Established Home Delivery Program
2004-2006
Switched to “Client Choice” food distribution and established “Healthy Choices” Program
2008
Launched Capital Campaign for facility at 2 Executive Drive
2011
Moved into new facility
2016
Launched Healthy Choices Mobile Pantry
2020
In response to the Pandemic, created SUN programs and expanded network to include emergency response programs
2021
Completed cold storage expansion project to accommodate new partners and increased food rescue activity
2023
Completed expansion and launched the “Margaret A. Darrin Healthy Choices Marketplace, including expansion of welcome center, shopping center, and new office space on second floor
